Meet Sarah
Hello, I'm Sarah Star: author, creative writing tutor, and indie-publisher. I live right on the border between England and Wales, and although I have lived in other countries and other regions of Britain, the countryside and culture here fill me with inspiration and have been my home for many years.
Once upon a time, I wrote (& taught) very serious contemporary gothic fiction and psychogeography. After a long, health-related career break, I found my way back to writing—and these days, I’ve lightened up and am loving my new, more authentic work, which could be described as magical realism meets absurdist humour, rooted in a British folkloric landscape. Perhaps.
I have a free newsletter and Substack blog where you can read more about my journey, my current work, and my musings on the writerly life.
I’ve also returned to teaching creative writing, and my ambition as a tutor is to help ignite your creativity and bring your stories into the world. I work with small groups to foster an inclusive, welcoming space and a supportive atmosphere. My classes and workshops are open to writers of all levels, with the emphasis on building Creativity, Confidence, and Craft.
