“I have been writing for several years but have never thought about how I write or the elements of a good piece of writing. You have given me a renewed sense of energy and I wake up every morning with an urge to write!”

Writing the Spirit of Place

Sunday 20th July 2025
10am – 4pm at Buzzard’s Nest, Builth Road LD2 3RH
£40 including lunch and refreshments

An immersive, full day creative writing workshop at a beautiful location in the heart of Mid-Wales.

How do we capture the spirit of place in words? What stories does the landscape, its history, folklore, characters, and geography have to tell us? And what role might those places which only exist in our dreams and memories take in our creative work?

Join me for a day of exploring these themes and discovering different writing techniques to help you create a rich sense of place through fiction and life-writing.

Our venue is a one-of-a-kind studio with a separate dining room and also an indoor/outdoor kitchen, set on an organic smallholding with access to the nearby river, meadows, woodland area, outdoor meditation spaces and stunning views.

This will be a small group workshop with limited places, booking is OPEN NOW so to register your interest please use the form on the contact page.

WordCraft: A Six-week Creative Writing Course

WordCraft is my foundation course for writers that focusses on the ‘Three Pillars’ of successful writing: Creativity, Confidence, and Craft. Through innovative, original exercises, prompts, readings, and discussions you are invited to explore the different elements involved in developing a good story. My aim is to inspire you; to help you develop your unique personal ‘voice’ , identify your strengths and challenges, and build a range of strategies that enable you to fulfil your creative potential.

WordCraft is run twice a year as a small group evening class in Kington, Herefordshire in collaboration with the Open Arms Community Hub. If you would like more information or to go on the waiting list for the next course, please get in touch using the form on the contact page.
